Operation Christmas Child
Run by the Samaritan's Purse each year, Sonia and her team have been supporting this project for many years. Filling a shoebox or two with age specific goodies by the end of October each year, reminds us, child and adult alike, that Christmas is about giving; true giving, giving when there is no reward in it for us, giving when those that receive have nothing to give in return.
Each year these shoe boxes get taken to impoverished communities all over the world where stunned children can think that the coloured shoebox is the gift, until shown what's inside. What a privilege it has been to try and stuff as many little treasures into that shoebox as possible, and teaching our children to do the same.
This year healTHY self contributed 34 shoeboxes to the coastal collection. Thanks everyone who got on board and helped to put a colossal grin on a skinny, dirty face living in a community you will probably never visit, in a village your tongue will probably never pronounce. May you experience the true meaning of Christmas... Good news, Great Joy! Visit: www.operationchristmaschild.org.au
